The seal of approval
Protecting Our Place has been officially recognised. On February 27th, Al Morrison, Director-General of Conservation unveiled a plaque at the newly painted Konini Lodge, Taranaki.
This is now the second hut to be painted in the ambitious 3-year partnership between DOC and Dulux to protect the huts that have given shelter to Kiwis for generations.
It’s doubly appropriate this hut was chosen because its location at Dawson Falls was the inspiration behind a Dulux Colour of New Zealand of the same name.
Attendees from both organisations and the media got to see Konini Lodge looking its best in a new coat of Dulux Weathershield. The roof is Dulux Karaka, the trim and spouting is Pioneer Red and the walls are, of course, Dawson Falls. There are plenty more huts on the list for repainting, so watch this space.
